Successful Launch of PPRDC - 1st Brand Owner's Meet

Plastic Packaging Research and Development Centre (PPRDC) has organized a one-day round-table thematic discussion on “Sustainable Packaging and EPR Regulations” on Wednesday 14th December 2022 at Radisson Blue, Noida. 25 Brand Owners (users of Multilayer Laminated Plastic Packages) attended the meet. This is the first interactive meet with BOs where PPRDC activities has been briefed to participants and how experts can guide on issues related to EPR and Circular Economy.

PPRDC Advisory Council Members and invited experts interacted with participants. Discussions were mainly related to environmental issues due to irresponsible disposal of plastic waste. Participation of the organized sector in plastic waste management and Brand-owner’s challenges to comply EPR. Decoding the EPR guidelines. Development of sustainable packaging to support BO. Solving plastic packaging waste management through the development of technology based on enzymatic degradation of MLP. Development of recycled PET and PE and assessment of recycled material content in recycled products were also discussed.

During the Roundtable meet, a Study Report on “Recyclability of Multilayer Mixed Plastics & it’s Applications in Moulding…. “ published by PPRDC was released by Mr. Ashok Chaturvedi, CMD - UFlex Ltd.
Members from UN Global Compact Network, UN Environment Programme and Alliance to End Plastic Waste were also present to share their views/ideas in this common knowledge sharing platform.
Invitation extended to BOs to become members of PPRDC to discuss specific issues on one-to-one basis related to EPR.
